Custom Round Spiral Four Person Track Cherry Cribbage Board

 This custom order is on its way to Wisconsin as a surprise Christmas gift to an unsuspecting husband.  I was sent a photo and asked.."Can you do something like this?"  Of course you know me I said sure no problem.  Famous last words right?  Well it was a lot of work to get everything lined up, but I am real pleased with how it turned out.  I think the client and her husband will love it.

I used cherry to create the board and it measures in at around 15 inches in diameter. It is mounted on a lazy susan base so it can rotate for the players.  I also created a drawer to hold the cards and pegs.

Life takes control.......... Sorry for the Delays in Project posting.. soon very soon..... :-)

After a very busy summer....   fall took over and turned toward preparing for winter.... I know the place I would have loved to have been would.... have been out on the water in my kayak....

 

However.....  that didn't happen... although hope to find some place warm this winter and get some serious water time in...... But for now with several necessary projects around the house and winter rapidly approaching .... shop projects and kayaking fun will have to share time with outside projects.
I have slowly been building this post for some time and figured I should finish it and post so folks would know what was going on here with me.

Here is a few of those distractions  .......

This is how my fall started out....Finally figured out why we had no water pressure...
 after changing the pump, pipes and pressure tank...

This is what happened last winter to our trailer storage and prompted the following structure..

Thank goodness for machinery

Now we don't have to worry about the snow crushing our trailers or Jeep this winter.

These two cuties didn't really cause me any work one night .... but they sure upset our dogs..

Had to pick up 1 1/2 cord bundles from the valley.. took two loads for each bundle. I hauled at least 6 loads.. we will be warm this winter.. so bring it on ole man winter... 

These are awesome... just have to chop saw them into the right lengths

Cut up...now just need to stack.....I love wood heat.... it warms you when you process it and again when you burn it

For those of you who haven't seen our back yard... this is a necessity,
which you will see why in the next photo or as the winter progresses this year.

This was last year at this time....  :-)

After several long periods without power.. we finally gave in and headed to town ...
where I had to fight off folks at Home Depot who had the same ideas....

So now that my break is over and I hear my shop calling....

 it is back to the shop and busy busy busy...

Custom Chili Pepper Plaques

 This is the second year they have asked me to create these plaques for them.

These chili board plaques were used in  The Boys & Girls Club of Rochester (Minnesota) Chili Challenge. This year was their 7th year, and with this event it helps raise fund for the kids in their community who need it the most. Last year they had about 28 different teams participating!!

They were given to the teams winning with 3 categories being public judged, and also 3 that were judged by a panel of judges.

The plaques were created using a local birch and measured in at around 5 inches x 12 inches....

This year I used my CNC router system to cutout the chili shape and the lettering. 

The lettering was then highlighted to stand out and then each plaque was coated with a hand rubbed poly.

Custom Cribbage Board Table

 This custom cribbage board table was created from photos sent in by client. It was to be a present for her son, who kept trying to take the one she had. I was to create the new one to be as close to the other one as possible. I think I came pretty close.

Two inch thick Hard Maple was used for this project. The end result was around 24 inches long x 15 inches wide, with a custom drawer on one end to stow the cards and custom metal pegs.  I am sure many years of cribbage will be played on this custom board.

Using chisel and hammer, the slot was chipped out.  I could have used the CNC for this but I decided to hand chisel it out.

Summer Busy-ness

Sorry for lack of posts on here for a bit.....  trying to keep up with having a birthday, owning a home, family, a full time job, and Splinters is a bit overwhelming at times. Oh did I forget to mention a bit of smoke...
