Custom Cribbage Board Boat

This client has chosen Sapele Mahogany for the deck and birch is being used for the rest of this custom boat shaped cribbage board.  It is a three person board and will have some custom lasering done on it.

It measures in around 20 inches Long and 5 1/2 inches wide with around 3 inches of draft.   The two pockets on top are to hold the cards and custom metal pegs which go with each custom cribbage board.

Sapele Mahogany sample

Sapele

Scientific Name: Entandrophragma cylindricum
This African hardwood is highly sought afterr for its similarity to Mahogany for guitar making, furnitue making and now for flooring, decking and paneling applications. Sapele's colors are a little more reddish than Mahogany, with dark tones and purple-brown hues. It works well with hand and machine tools, but its interlocking grain can tear easily in planners if not done carefully. Sawing and peeling this wood is easy, unlike other hardwwoods that can put a strain o your tools.
