Custom Cribbage Boards For USS San Francisco (SSN-711)

Twenty custom two person cribbage boards were created for a client in San Diego.  He was departing his ship and wanted to give one of these boards to each one of his wardroom mates. I made a larger board for his departing skipper last year.  Returning clients are awesome.

Hard maple was used in creating these boards and they measure in at 5 inches wide and 13 inches long.

Laser engraved with the USS San Francisco (SSN-711) logo and Dolphins fins and their motto:
“The Man in the Arena”
 This tells the story and the folks on the USS San Francisco (SSN-711) live it in real life.
Theodore Roosevelt’s life shows us that hard work, tenacity, and a desire to do the right thing can get you far in life. In the most memorable section of his “Citizenship in a Republic” speech, Roosevelt captured his life philosophy in just a few sentences. “The Man in the Arena” tells us that the man we should praise is the man who’s out there fighting the big battles, even if those battles end in defeat. In our day, when cynicism and aloof detachment are considered hip and cool, he reminds us that glory and honor come to those “who spend themselves in a worthy cause.”
"It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat."

Custom Tournament Cribbage Boards...

Created two more of these boards for trophy's for a senior center annual cribbage tournament in Burbank, California.

They are made out of hard maple and measure in at 3 inches wide and 21 1/2 inches long.

A slot is routed on the back to hold the custom metal pegs which come with the boards.

Large Pizza Peel for Las Vegas

Custom peel in action....





These custom peels are being created for a 24 hour buffet in Las Vegas, so they must be created to withstand heat and continuous use.

 This paddle is 30 x 30 with 24 inch handle and local birch is used to make it.

The reinforcement pieces added to back to provide extra support for its 24 hour use...
